What are Some of the Things That Were Put in Place to Restore Caribou Habitats? Caribou is a term used to refer to large deer which is a wild animal that is majorly found in the Northern America and Canada. You may be wondering what caribou is but in Canada it is a different story as it is regarded as one of the important national symbols. But of late their population had been reducing due to a number of factors which interferes with their habitats. Like some of the things that were found to be interfering with their habitat were industrialization, global warming, and wolves. This has become a national concern and now a group of companies have come together with one objective of restoring the habitat of this animal its original form including oil and gas exploration companies that originally participated in the degradation of their habits. You find that during these time fragmentations occurred as they were trying to create corridors and access routes to oil drilling areas which led to destruction of large parts of the forest. Like this mining companies started by improving their mining methods. The improved methods were aiming at maximizing the production at the same time they were causing minimal disturbances which led to faster recovery of the forests. Some of the places still did not recover especially the long trenches that were made during oil mining and this places were used by these animals to hide but they were not safe as wolves could still spot them and eat them.

As a result, many companies came together with the same objective to rehabilitate the seismic line and restore the forest to its high quality to preserve these animals. Even though they had the same objectives but they were deploying different techniques to achieve their goals. Just to mention but a few they had The Algar Historic Restoration Project and the Linear Deactivation Project commonly knowns as LiDea.
A Simple Plan: Environments
Some of the methods that they deployed was to replant the trees and shrubs along the trenches. This worked well on their favor as most of this places consist of wetlands and blogs which facilitated the planting of many trees especially during the winter seasons using the methods that they have already tested to be working. Apart from that, they have also been able to engage in several activities like mounding, seeding a coarse woody material placement just to preserve these animals. In addition to that, monitoring of wildlife was also facilitated through wildlife monitoring program that they formed. After the completion they decided to monitor their project with each of them being responsible.
